VR Design Collaboration

Help VR users document, assign, or tack design feedback

Improving concentration levels by implementing non-stressed features

Statement

Design Collaboration and Management VR tool aims to create a collaborative platform for design professionals and product managers to create, manage, and resolve design issues in an immersive space, stopping time waste and budget loss in a long remaking process.

Existing Problem

There is no tool to document, assign, or track design feedback.

AR/VR design collaboration and management require a more robust form of communication and documentation. Project managers require a tool where it is possible to create, manage, and resolve design issues.

Key Accomplishment

Started the collaboration VR tool

With a background in both Design Engineering and UX Research and Design we wanted to take a route that would benefit both our industries.

Process & Challenges

Research

Goal

Create a design collaboration tool in the VR environment

Constraints

If designers can flag and signal parts, then they can avoid wasting budget and time remaking a design.

The current experience includes co-existence in a dedicated virtual room, with voice chat. All drawing tools of shapes, surfaces, and text are available to use. There are no design documentation tools on the market that help to view all noted elements on a 3D VR interface/model in a hierarchical-role fashion.

Context

The collaboration offers a common virtual design environment. Design collaboration and management requires a more robust form of communication and documentation

Domain

The domain of this project lies in the collaboration space. The users are design professionals who create, edit, and collaborate in Virtual Reality

Visualize points of interest in design

When feedback is received in the design stage, there must be a way to document it with a title, and describe its nature.

Once recorded, there must be ways to assign tasks, set goals, and finally consolidate all tasks in an easily reviewable format.

Pain Points

For current solutions

1

Contradiction

Focus applications require users to put phones away while our goal is to keep users stay on the app

2

Hard to keep users stay

If users have not established trust in the app, they may leave the page and never go back

3

Challenging to establish trustworthiness

From the previous summary, users lack trust in the Focus app's ability to assist them

Goal
What makes users focus along with anxiety? How users manage their anxiety while focusing?

Method 04

Contextual Inquiry

Concentration ties to anxiety

Uploaded image

These four points tied to the difficulty of concentration

4 Questions Raised:

how to solve anxiety?

how to help users control their lives?

how to increase self-evaluation?

how to improve confidence?

Method 05

Surveys and Questionnaires

Goal

Finding more users to test their experience in concentration

Knowing their thoughts on the relation between concentration and anxiety

Plan

Quantitative survey over 20 users

Method & Tool

Testing and knowing the information through behavioral and attitude questions

Sending out surveys through Google Form

Simple information but focus on Planning

This design offers straightforward information with a minimalist design style, while still emphasizing the Planning system to encourage users to reflect on their focus time independently.

PMs' View

The right amount of information on each page

Placing the planning within the setting page reduces the task space and avoids highlighting it to prevent escalating users' stress levels.

Take Away

Conducting qualitative research precedes any design process

Without undertaking two research studies on our social issue, discerning the correlation between concentration and anxiety is impossible

It becomes imperative and crucial to determine the precise direction before initiating the design process

Turn into actionable insights

As a UX researcher/designer, I have to bear the bad news. In this particular case, the design solutions don't seem to be working effectively to address the issue at hand. I am aware that this issue is a significant problem globally. However, it is crucial to keep the communication lines open for further constructive dialogue and to engage a team to achieve better results.

Increasing trust from users

Add a team

We are planning to include more collaborators in our team, including designers and modelers.

Physical Models

We plan to create a physical clock that aligns with the app to help users concentrate better.

New main goal of app

Promoting user involvement in the physical setting

Quick Summary
My Role

I started this study in concentration, created qualitative surveys by Google Form, FigJam and Miro.

Used Figma to analyze data and implement design solutions.

Impact

My findings confirmed the approach taken to address the issue of concentration in society.

My design solutions increased user retention on the homepage.

Next Step

I've reached out to another engineer and UX designer to work on a physical clock model to support the application's focus by creating a physical and realistic tool.
